Elections for Student Council officers took place at the end of September and since that time, the elected officials and their committee have been very busy!
The Student Council is guided by the Gospel Values and divides its efforts into the following four areas each month:
I. Charity/Community Service/Social Outreach
II. School Spirit Building Events/Activities
III. Fundraisers
a) proceeds to benefit charity organization of the month
b) proceeds to benefit Saint Catherine of Siena School
IV. Faith Formation
The Student Council would like to thank all who supported the charity for the month of October, The Get in Touch Foundation by “Dressing Up” in pink! Your donations helped raise $215.00 in support of the organization’s crusade against breast cancer!
The St. Catherine of Siena School community really got into the spirit by participating in a school-wide pep rally led by the Student Council in support of the fall/winter basketball teams. After, all enjoyed blue and gold frosted donuts donated by the Student Council. GO SCSS!
Saint Catherine of Siena School really exhibited the true meaning of the Gospel Value for November: Service. On November 11, Veterans Day, students recognized and honored American veterans for their military service by participating in a prayer service led by the Student Council. We would like to thank all who donated to the Thanksgiving Food Drive. Your generosity helped provide Thanksgiving dinner for families of the Merton House and its surrounding community. In addition, The Student Council was honored to lead a Thanksgiving Prayer Service on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Thank you to all who attended.
Look for upcoming Student Council events for the month of December like Lights of Love and Trees of Hope to benefit the Ronald McDonald House, Candy Cane Grams, and the Jesse Tree Ceremony. In addition, other upcoming events include McDonald’s Day and a fun-filled “Spirit Week” to kick off Catholic Schools’ Week.
